Caleb Spends the Night
Our friends Aaron and Jill entrusted us with their 7 month old son, Caleb, for the night so they could celebrate their five year wedding anniversary with a wonderful weekend get-away. Caleb is with us tonight and tomorrow day, then will spend the night with other friends tomorrow night. What a little bundle of love this little guy is! We had lots of fun. I took lots of pics since this was his first night away from both parents.
He had fun playing in the playroom with Jacob and Paige. We found some "baby friendly" toys for him to play safely with. I couldn't resist putting the sun glasses on him. Paige would just smile at him and then me when he first arrived. She would come over and wave and say "hi". Jacob came over and gave him a high five.
I pulled out the exersaucer from the soon-to-be nursery. As soon as I pulled it out Paige was hot on my heals to get in it. She gets in it all the time. She can crawl in it, but needs help getting out. It's funny to walk by the bedroom and see her just sitting in it having a good old time.
I let the kids play in it a minute before lugging it down the stairs.
Now it's the baby's turn for the exersaucer. He played in here great while I made our dinner and his bottle.
After his bottle I pulled out our high-chair, which Paige tried to climb right into. I was able to distract her with Caleb's empty bottle. For some reason she was very entertained by holding it and saying "bottle". She never put it in her mouth either.
Back into the exersaucer since Caleb is in the high-chair.

Travis had a work event tonight, so I was on my own. I didn't even hesitate to bump our weekend movie night up from Saturday night to Friday night. Bolt was movie of the night and both kids really liked it. Jacob watched more than Paige did, and they actually made it all the way to the end. We will see if Toy Story 2 has lost it's place as favorite.
Time for jammies.
Caleb's pj's have these cute dogs all over them and some of them are blue. Paige kept pointing to the blue dogs and saying "Blue" for Blue's Clues, and she would also make the "baw baw" sound Blue makes. It was so cute! Here she is kissing Caleb.
And kissing him again. She warmed up fast to him. She would come over and look at me and say, "hold him" and then point to and say all his body parts: head, foot, hand...it was so cute.
Caleb had fun rolling all over the living room. He really gets around well, and both kids never stepped on him.
Paige is kissing him again.
I love this one of Jacob giving Caleb his pacey.
No worries Aaron and Jill- he did great and is sleeping away. Happy Anniversary!

Thursday...
It was an overcast morning and I thought it was going to rain (don't know that it ever did though) so we stayed inside this morning. After lunch the kids burned off some energy by running through the house with Jacob's blankets. The first two pictures are my new favorites of my babies...
Paige wanted to wear a band aid even though there is no real boo-boo. I remember I used to love band aids too.
I thought this was so clever of Jacob. He arranged the letter from what he saw on the box. I don't know why he added the P but he even over-lapped the word "toy" like it is overlapped on the cover. All we are missing is the number 2.
Jacob is at school now and is loving it! He gets out of the car and waves and smiles at me. Today when the teacher opened the door to get him out, he kissed me, told me by-bye, and then looked at the teacher and said, "Hi. How are you doing?" I was so tickled.

First Day of School
Jacob started school today!!! He does afternoon preschool, so we still have our fun mornings together before he goes to school. Paige naps while he is at school which means I actually have a few hours to myself! He is in public school now so he goes everyday. That's a big jump from 2 days last year and a summer break to five days a week. He attends a school called PPCD- Preschool Program for Children with Disabilities, so he will be receiving both speech and occupational therapy in his classroom. We have heard wonderful things about the program so we are excited for what the year will bring.
We walked him in today for the first day but normally he will do car-pool. I can't tell you how excited I am about car-pool with Paige and a newborn on the way!
His locker...
And some pics of his class...
He liked standing inside this 4-way easel. He did it last Friday when he met his teachers and played in his classroom.
He cried when it was time for us to leave which made me sad. It's never fun to pull away from you child as they cling to you in fear. But when I picked him up, one of his teachers told me he calmed down right away and had a good day. He was very excited to see me. Here he is waving to me as he came to the car. He stayed dry in his big boy underwear too!
He was too busy eating a snack I had packed for him to smile for the picture on the ride home.
I expect this week to be difficult for him, but I know he will adjust and do great! He's such a big boy.

Greatest Show on Earth!
I know the circus has that tag-line, but in our house the "greatest show" are the videos my friend Karla makes for the kids year. We just got Jacob's 3 year video last night and we have watched it 7 times already! It's just as great as the first two Jacob videos and Paige's first year video. We love it!!
Here the kids are watching it for the 6th time! We all love watching them!!

Thank you so much Karla! It came out perfect and we L-O-V-E it!
Then here are some other fun morning pics...

A few of her favorite things...
Paige is a lot like her mama! She likes her Mocha's....

Relax- it's empty! But, when I get it she loudly requests a sip by saying "coffee, coffee!" and I lower the cup to her level and let her put her mouth to the lid and she sucks trying to get some. But I don't tip the cup so she never does actually taste it. Then I wash the cup and she walks around drinking her coffee. It's so cute!
And she also, like her mama, likes her ice cream cake!
Grandma left her ice cream cake with us and we have been enjoying it all week! Paige will make several requests for "cake" throughout the day. Here she is savoring her last piece.

Potty Progress Note
I just thought I would update (maybe brag) about how great Jacob is doing with potty training. He is doing GREAT! Seriously...I am so proud of him. He has been sleeping in underwear every night and waking up dry for a little over a week now. He tells me he needs to go for both number 1 and number 2 and holds it when we are out until we get home. I am SOOO proud of him!!! Our next step is to work on using other peoples potties. Right now he prefers to only use his home potties.
Travis got this funny picture of him from Sunday- listing to an ipod while eating some lunch. We never let him use the ipod like this which is what makes this picture so funny to us.

20 Months Old
Paigers is 20 months today. 4 more months until she is 2 and a big sister!
She is doing wonderful! Still just as lovable and funny as ever. At the end of the night when Travis and I are reflecting on the day, we always say the same thing with Paige: "She is so cute!" We feel like cute describes every bit of her personality. She is a joy!
She is counting to 11, needs help with 7 or 8, but still counting. She tries her abc's and is very good with her colors too. Not 100% yet, but maybe soon. She only has her pacey's at naps and is doing great with that schedule for now.
She has completely lost interest in going potty on the potty, which is fine with me. It was fun while it lasted. Since she is in cloth diapers, it isn't costing me anything so I am in no rush to get her trained before she is ready.
She is still the drama queen and it is funny and exhausting at the same time. The difference between girls and boys is fun. She has a great memory too and wants to do everything Jacob does. She is also very protective of Jacob and I. You can't take her to doctor visits because she cries the whole time a doctor or nurse is talking to or touching me or her brother. When Jacob goes to therapy she gets a little worked up and concerned for him. But, since we go every week I think she is also used to it because she says his therapists names and knows the drill. But she asks about him every 5 minutes while he is gone. So sweet.
And she loves that there is a baby in my tummy. I don't know that she fully understands that the baby is coming out one day, but she is very sweet to the baby. Lots of hugs and kisses. She also thinks she has a baby in her tummy and that daddy has a baby in his tummy. So don't get offended if she points to your tummy and says "baby". She thinks babies are part of the body right now.
These last few pictures have been one of their favorite games: running in circles through the house. Here is a video. It is great because they will run and run, chasing and tackling each other. Jacob is saying: "To infinity...and beyond!" from Toy Story.
